Born on 25 July 1925 in Nappattimunai, Eastern Province, Sri Lanka, he sought the eternal truth from the age of ten and reached enlightenment at thirty-five. He wrote 9 books and 181 spiritual songs. He passed away on 6 December 2006.
A Sufi order registered as a Cultural Society on 1 June 1989 in Batticaloa, with its Head Office in Kattankudy and more than 20,000 members worldwide, holding the belief in Thowheed — the Oneness of the Being: there is nothing except Allah.
